CS Degree

Now i started to wonder, is it worth it to take a degree for this? Or anyone who took cs degree before can explain what's the difference btwn a selftaught software engineer and a degree. Im aiming to get my bachelor’s in software engineering and i have seen strong backlash of this degree, and the idea that a computer science degree is so much better.
