Here the get method finds a key entry for 'e' and finds its value which is 1. We add this to the other 1 in characters.get (character, 0) + 1 and get 2 as result. Feb 5, 2009is it possible to pass parameters with an http get request?

You evidently know what .get invoked on a dictionary does, that's what's being called for each key in the dictionary. The 'get' lets you treat a class method, as if it were a simple property in an object. If you leave off the 'get', you can still access the value by calling .area () instead of just .area

So, i've come up with a simpler script that returns all the get parameters in a single object. You should call it just once, assign the result to a variable and then, at any point in the future, get any value you. Ultimately it probably doesn't have a safe .get method because a dict is an associative collection (values are associated with names) where it is inefficient to check if a key is present (and return its value).
