Who Was Melchizedek?
The first mention of a tithe in the bible occurs in genesis when melchizedek, a king and a “priest of god most high,” offered a sacrifice of bread and wine in thanksgiving for abraham’s victory over several. Melchizedek (also spelled melchisedech) appears in the book of genesis (14:18-20). The stake is led by the stake president, who has two priestly counselors and a stake high council of twelve melchizedek priesthood brothers.
